Specifications and Materials

Compatibility and Fitment

Confirm both components have 1/2″ BSP male threads before ordering. Do not substitute a 1/2″ NPT socket solely because the nominal size appears the same, as BSP and NPT thread forms are generally not interchangeable. Also check that the job requires a full socket rather than a shorter half socket.

Apply suitable thread sealant to the male threads, start each connection by hand and keep the components aligned while tightening. The socket does not connect directly to nylon air tube unless a separate threaded tube adaptor is installed.

Compliance and Safety

Isolate and depressurise the air line before installation. Inspect both male threads for damage, contamination or corrosion, and replace any component that begins to cross-thread during assembly. Avoid excessive tightening that may split the socket or damage the connected fittings, then pressure-test both joints before returning the system to service.

Black steel can develop surface corrosion in exposed conditions, so check whether the installation needs additional protection from moisture, road spray or wash-down chemicals.
