Overview

The 8mm European Air Brake Tube Insert supports the inside of compatible nylon air line where a compression fitting grips the outside of the tube. Its cylindrical body slides into the tube bore, while the flanged end rests against the cut tube face to control insertion depth.

This internal support helps prevent soft nylon tube from collapsing, distorting or pulling inward as the matching nut and cutting ring are tightened.

Compatibility and Fitment

Confirm that the air line measures 8mm across its outside diameter and that the insert body matches the tube’s internal bore. The most likely ordering mistake is choosing solely by outside diameter, as 8mm tube can be produced with different wall thicknesses and internal diameters.

Cut the tube square and remove burrs before pressing the insert fully into the bore. The flange should sit against the end of the tube without splitting, stretching or excessively loosening the tube wall. Fit the matching nut and cutting ring only after the insert is seated correctly.

Compliance and Safety

Depressurise the pneumatic circuit before dismantling the connection. Replace any insert that is cracked, crushed, heavily marked or loose inside the tube. After assembly, restore air pressure gradually and inspect the joint for leakage, tube movement and distortion around the compression point.
