Overview

BPW seal carrier supports the hub sealing arrangement on 9 tonne conventional SN4218 oil-lubricated wheel ends. The carrier provides the mounting surface for the oil hub seal and works with a separate O-ring to seal the carrier against the hub assembly.

Specifications and Materials

This machined metal seal carrier measures 130mm outside diameter, 85mm inside diameter and 32mm wide. Two carriers are required when servicing both sides of one axle. The O-ring, oil hub seal and other wheel-end components are separate parts.

Compatibility and Fitment

Confirm the axle capacity, conventional SN4218 hub design and oil lubrication setup before ordering. The main mismatch risk is selecting the grease hub carrier or a carrier for a 10 to 12 tonne hub, as these use different component dimensions and sealing arrangements. Compare the removed carrier’s outside diameter, inside diameter and width before installation.

Compliance and Safety

Clean the hub bore and inspect the carrier seating surface, O-ring groove and seal running area for corrosion, scoring or distortion. Fit the correct O-ring without twisting or cutting it, and protect the hub seal lip from sharp edges during assembly. Refill the wheel end with the lubricant specified for the oil hub and check for leakage after installation.
