Overview

The 3/8 NPT male run tee creates a three-way threaded pneumatic connection with the male port positioned on the straight run. One female port continues directly opposite the male connection, while the second female port forms a 90-degree side branch.

This port arrangement allows an existing threaded connection to continue straight while adding another air-system connection from the side. It differs from a male branch tee, which positions the male thread on the perpendicular branch.

Compatibility and Fitment

Confirm that the male connection belongs on one end of the straight run before ordering. A male branch tee may have the same three thread sizes but positions the male port at 90 degrees, producing a different connection layout.

Check the nominal size and thread form of every mating component. NPT and BSP fittings can appear similar but are not interchangeable. Also allow enough clearance to rotate the complete tee into the receiving port without contacting nearby valves, pipework or brackets.

Compliance and Safety

Depressurise the pneumatic system before removing or installing the fitting. Clean the mating threads and apply compatible pneumatic thread sealant where required, keeping excess material away from the internal air passage.

Use the machined body flats when tightening the tee. Restore pressure gradually and leak-test all three connections before returning the system to service. Avoid overtightening because excessive force can damage the brass threads or adjoining components.
